Superstring Theory 
Superstring
theory, while not yet fully formulated, is a promising candidate
for the resolution of the contradiction between general
relativity and quantum field theory.
The
general predictions of string theory are Yang-Mills gauge theories Supersymmetry As
it happens -- on this planet, at least -- two of
these natural phenomena were observed and described before being
predicted by string theory, and one wasn't.
