I'm glad you agree with the distinction between mathematics and physical theory. I just would like to point out a correction to your statement of what is the continuum hypothesis (CH). The fact that the cardinality of the continuum is equal to that of the subsets of the integers is a provable theorem. CH is an assertion that there are no cardinal numbers in between these two cardinals (integers and reals).
