I hadn't heard that about computer go, but I can easily believe it. I'm not really much of a go player myself, perhaps because I have no one to play with, and at my current age I don't have time to develop new game skills. My observation about the lines/spaces difference was just a first glance, and of course you are right about the much deeper differences. Some people even have speculated that the U.S. lost in Vietnam becuse Ho Chi Minh was a go player while our guys were playing chess. There do seem to me to be some interesting parallels. Or are they parabolas? Oh well. I'm afraid I am not quite up to the tiny in the distance land this morning. It is an intrigueing idea, though, and I'll probably have more thoughts on it later. Meanwhile my computer screen has developed some kind of palsey and is undergoing computational breakdown leading to interface white-out. I have had to shut down and reboot twice this morning, and lost a rather good post for Dr. Ameen. So I'll have to keep this short. You were asking about differential equations and I have not forgotten. I think I'll go offline and work on that today. I'll try to compose my thoughts on a more stable screen and post them here for you later. Thanks for being here. RTH
