Yes I have played go. The main difference between go and chess I think is deeper. In go, every piece is assumed to have the same strengths and weaknesses. In Chess, the pieces all have special qualities that make then unique. Every piece in chess is like an expert at doing one thing. Every piece in go is an automaton all doing the same thing.

Also, I think go is the last game left where humans are much better than the strongest computer players. The average human who learned to play a month ago can beat the best virtual go player quite easily I understand.

I sometimes wonder about a make-believe land I read about when I was little. It is a world where everything gets smaller the farther away from a point it gets.

How do we know we don't live in such a world? Well for one, the shortest distance between two points. We are certain it is a line. But in the fantasy world, the shortest distance to travel between two points would be a parabola, curved toward the center of the world, between the two points. See? because we get bigger toward the center, our steps would be longer, letting us travel further in fewer steps.

This makes me think of gravity. Notice how a cord when stretched between two objects, always makes a perfect parabola?

I'm not sure if the two parabolas are linked. But it could be a clue into the nature of gravity.
