You are right, I'm not very interested in defining matter at the moment. I appreciate your stubbornness however.

I just think that trying to look at matter like this leads to tautologies much like trying to define gravity.

I hate to throw this at you, but defining matter is almost outside the realm of science. Science does not say what is, but rather how this something behaves. We define life based on what it does, we define forces based on how they act, and we define matter based on our current ability to look at it. Sorry, but speculating what matter really is beyond our ability to see seems like metaphysics to me. I'd rather describe how matter works than what it is.

Mass also can be said to be potential atomic energy, given the equivalence of matter and energy. Mass is the property of matter used when measuring the force of gravity. Mass is. And yes, it does resist acceleration.

I've been wasting a lot of time lately playing chess. I love chess, and it is starting to occupy more of my time than writing here.

I wish we could move to a subject that I could think more deeply about, so my days would go by faster as I write!
