In topology, the "boundary" of an n-dimensional object is (n-1)-dimensional. For example the boundary of the 3-dimensional ball is the 2-dimensional spherical surface. It is an interestiing theorem in topology that a boundary doesn't itself have a boundary, ever. The spherical surface (like the surface of that well known ball, the Earth) has no edge.
