This is just a quick question...

Is it true that the dimensions of the surface of a shape is one less than the total number of dimensions of the shape?

Ie: Solid sphere = 3D, surface = 2D?
Circle = 2D, surface = 1D (a line?)?
4D Circle, surface = 3D????
