I think personally the subject of consciousness has valid position in a scientific discussion even if I tend to see present day limits on its application in certain fields. Beyond that, if Scientific evidence, derived from experiment can be shown to support and idea then I see no problem with the discussion of such. However, that is where the crux of the problem tends to come in. Many people including some big names out there tend to reference PSI concepts in general having a QM basis. Yet, I've seldom seen these same people propose any scientific testing or even reference such. Science is built upon experimental testing of theories. Proposing a theory without offering a means of testing this theory is unsound from a scientific point of view. I'd suggest that perhaps the best way to approach all this is to determine if some means of testing the theory against conventional ones can be derived.
